Life Habits Podcast : My thoughts

Image

Usually, I get up at 5 am in the morning and get myself 2 hours of uninterrupted time to do things that matter to me the most. For the last few weeks, TheTechPanda has been the only thing I did those 2 hours. Today, when I got up at 6 after watching a late night movie yesterday – I craved for some input into my brain rather than output some from it. Podcasts are my favorite way to get information – people talking is more unplugged than people writing. No matter how much we try, the actual persona will shine through in the podcast. Went upstairs, and listened to the Life Habits Podcast. The episode I listened to, today was :

http://www.lifehabits.net/2010/12/06/lh52-taking-things-personally/

Before you come to assumptions, this is one topic that has been troubling me a lot lately. So, why not get expert opinons? 20 minutes long and this is the best investment of time at 6 AM. The top 10 practical list of things to do hit the nail on the head, and whoever follows the list to a T will never have this problem again.

There are other topics I downloaded to my iPhone for my later listening. It seems now 1/2 hour of my morning slot will be dedicated to Life Habits until I finish listening to the entire series. However, a lot depends on how much we implement it, rather than how many of these podcasts we listen to.

Go here for the main page of podcast:

See the list of topics and I’m pretty sure you will identify a topic or two that will resonate with you. ¬†For more updates, you can “Like” their facebook page here:

Review of the wellness guys podcast

Average Reading time:  4 minutes

Okay, after listening to bevan’s fitness behavior podcast – I am convinced that there are good people out there, who really want to help others achieve things. However, the goodness once a month is not enough for me. When I started looking at top picks in fitness category in iTunes, came across this podcast. It runs weekly, and is conducted by top 3 chiropractors in Australia. The show runs for about half an hour, so it’s easy to listen to at one go. Listened to a couple of their podcasts, I will fit them in bevan’s do- good team as well. Extremely informative and quirky, they cover all areas of wellness. The one that particularly caught my attention was “office stress”. After sitting at the office desk for lot of years now, I had developed quite unhealthy posture. Now. In this podcast – I have the docs confirming that as well.

One of the immediate changes I made to my posture is:

to sit with both legs parallel to each other and touching the ground

Today is my 3rd day of this change.  The first day, I had to be really really conscious Рand my legs really curled up and went back to their original posture every few hours. Second day was the same. But, today РI can see myself sitting comfortably. I noticed that, when sitting in this position, it is better to keep legs a bit away from your body, rather than trying to forcefully sit in the 90 degree precision. It helps.

Along with this, I’ve been trying ¬†to keep my backbone straight, which is a failure so far. ¬†Thinking of starting slow, may be ¬†1 hour a day. But, with my long term goal of meditation & pranayama, learning to stay on straight backbone would be a good thing to do.

Back to the review.  I would rate them 5/5,  importantly for the below reasons :

> Quality & time of the show content

> Backgrounds of the hosts

> Weekly podcast

> Being busy, dedication to devote time & effort to increase wellness awareness among general public.

Great job guys, keep rocking!!

Review of Fitness Behavior Podcast

Today, while going through the usual list of podcasts on itunes after very long, I was looking at something peppy, interesting and nice to listen to. And then, I found this podcast. The one listened was :-

Fitness Behavior 17 : What you say to yourself.

Boy, I’m so impressed with this guy!!! Yes, he is a fast speaker to me – but only because he slows down his pace – I can actually follow him through out the podcast. And when I put the earphones on, I feel as if he is sitting right in front of me and talking. That’s one of the toughest impacts to make on the audience. The content, presentation and the personal touch of adding his own stories to the podcast makes it more appealing to the listener.

I’ve subscribed to the podcast, and so sad that this guy isn’t in Sydney with his running groups.

And for his website:¬†http://www.bevanjameseyles.com/¬† – Go, pay a visit. You’d be happy you did.
