Its been really long long years i have chronicled anything about kids. Saanvi had lot of entries in this blog. This is a first to vihana – my 22 mths old younger kid.

As saanvi sleeps and vihana keeps roaming from hall to bedroom for about 50 times, it is about 10 pm. My idli plate was in the hall from 9 pm, when i came with kids into the bedroom. I told vihana –

‘Amma is so hungry. Why dont u sleep soooon?!!’

She gets up from her place with a mission. Chanting ‘amma hungry, amma hungry’, she barges out.  Within seconds, i see her bringing the idli plate to me and saying – ‘amma idli. Tinu’. I was pleasantly surprised.

10.15pm and vihana is still strolling around. I decide its high time i eat my dinner.i come out and so does vihana.

She sits in front of me and opens the sambar vessel. ‘Amma tinu’. And starts serving me. And then continuous to serve me. ‘Amma hungry. Idli tinu’. She keeps prompting me in between. Then proceeds to serve me chutneys and brings me water bottle.

As vinod watches with amusement, she goes to her dad with concerned face and says – ‘amma hungry.idli tinu’.

My heart is filled with joy and my eyes are filled with tears. This just shows what a fun filled roller coaster ride my future is going to be;)

TVF Permanent Room mates Season 2 Review

Finally, could get couple of hours free time to finish the last two episodes of TVF Permanent Roommates Season 2. Sumeet Vyas and Nidhi Singh, the lead pair of the web series are lovable to watch. They introduce the concept of having baby without being married, and then plan the entire web series about parenting, baby and how parents can get or not get along.  The best episode of all is “The Dinner” where the concept of cheating and art of parenting is explained in the last 5 minutes.

Overall, a lot bollywood style villanism, and lot of unnecessary hungama. What makes up is the last episode. Watch it here folks.

Serious men : book review

With my latest resolution of reading only indian authors for a couple of years – i saw manu joseph appear in couple of lists. So, i picked up this one and was completely in agreement with the lists he was put in.

The story revolves around institute of theory and research, where brahmins live in the pursuit of truth, while their dalit secretaries give them coffee after spitting in it. Welcome to manu’s world. A funny, comical and scarily real depiction of real world.

His depiction of a father’s attempt to prove his family a life beyond BDD chawls, the odd affection between director and his wife, how he falls for a women half his age and how people love to see others fall, even though wrongly.

The best part of the book is – you dont get angry at anyone although what they do is ethically and morally wrong.manu takes you through their lives, heads ans hearts so effortlessly.

My favorite character from the book is obviously Arvind Acharya, who lives by word and has no regret for whatever he whispers in pope’s ear.

Meditation : Day 20

While i waited for the cab to come and drop me at work, i saw a beautiful message that came to me from a whatsapp group –

*Why Meditation is necessary?*

Please read below from Medical Angle.

From the time of our birth till death the heart works continuously.

*Everyday the heart pumps 7000 litres of blood, of which 70% blood is pumped to the brain and the remaining 30%  to the rest of body.*

The blood is pumped through veins/arteries which are about more than 70,000 km long.
The strength required to pump the blood up to 42 ft high and weight of 1 tonne is generated by the heart everyday through its work.

We take rest when we are tired but if the heart takes rests for 4-5 mins we will have to rest forever.

*How does the heart work so much efficiently and effectively?*

Heart works effectively because it follows a discipline. In normal conditions the heart takes 0.3 secs to contract (systole) and 0.5 secs to relax (diastole). So 0.3+0.5=0.8 secs are required by the heart to complete one beat (1 cardiac cycle).That means *in 1 min, the heart beats 72 times which is considered as normal heart beat.*

During the relaxing phase of 0.5 secs the impure blood travels through the lungs and becomes 100 % pure.

In some stressful conditions the body demands more blood in less time and in this situation the heart reduces the relaxing period of 0.5 secs to 0.4 secs.Thus in this case the heart beats 82 times in 1min and only 80% of blood gets purified.

On more and more demand the relaxing time is further reduced to 0.3 secs then only 60% of blood is purified.
Thus 20-40% of impure blood is pumped in the veins/ arteries.These impure components (cholesterol/lipid) gets deposited on the walls of arteries/ veins and thus the elastic nature of the veins and the arteries is lost. So they become plastic in nature.

After some time due to the above conditions the veins/arteries become rigid. Now if a blood clot travels through the veins/ arteries (which in normal conditions gets easily passed away due to the elastic nature earlier) gets blocked and resists blood flow in that area. This results in a blockage which further *results in Heart Attack.*

From the above discussion, we can easily realise that the main reason for the heart problems is the increase demand of blood by the brain and the body.
When the activity of brain is stimulated it demands more amount of blood than that of normal conditions.

*To stimulate the activity of brain 25-30% of diet we take is responsible whereas the remaining 70-75% is due to the thinking, emotions, attitude, memories and other processes of the brain.*

So, those who want to keep their heart working effectively for a long period of time they should protect themselves from  – worries, anger, sadness, emotions, sensitive behavior, stress and hurry.

To protect ourselves from the above, few things *there is no MEDICATION available!*
So, the only option is

How i was glad i read this message? And how good i felt to kickstart this habit in my life. Day 20 today. Not bad. The cab driver insisted on playing kannada radio despite my repeated requests not to play anything for 10 mts. Not very helpful day, but nevertheless – didnt break the chain.

Mwditation : day 19

Headspace has a little cute animation on clear sky and how its always available to us. No matter how cloudy it seems. All we need to know is the awareness that the blue sky exists.  Peaceful day. The cab driver played loud songs, from which i requested sanity for a little while.

I still cannot see my strongest thoughts playing out during meditation, which eat me up during the day! How?!!

C25k : week 3 day 3

A little mismanagement can go a long way in ruining your routine. Came home at 9, wind up stuff and wake up early. Thought will catch up week 3 day 3 but my body wasnt just ready. May be it needed a banana before the run? I dont know. I couldnt run the 3 min stretch without stopping twice.

Another thought. Should i alternate weight training and cardio? May be, i should do that. Will pick up some sample weight training for 15 mins from internet today.

Its all about prioritization and no matter what continuity.

C25k : week 3 day 2

Saanvi’s first day of full day school. Spent my early morning in kitchen packing boxes for the young one.dropped her off and went for practise. I was dead tired when i started the workout.had to stop in my 3 min run, couldnt finish.exhausted, hungry and sweaty.  Happy that i finished my practise and didnt skip will be 5 am from tomorrow then..
