Recipe 22 : Roasted channa dal Laddoo / Putnala Laddoo

While sitting in doctor’s office with Saanvi every other week for her cough and cold, I make it a point not to indulge her with home made sweets. She manages to fill in with lots of choclates, which I really have a hard time avoiding. Topic for another blog post.

The other day, I had the mommy guilt of not cooking her sweets and thought of making her a really simple sweet and see how she responds. Couple of laddoos in one sitting – goal accomplished with worry accumulated! 🙂

Total Preparation time : 15 minutes

Ingredients

Roasted channa dal – 2 cups

Sugar – 1 cup

Ghee – 5-6 tbsp , as per requirement

Cashew nuts – around 10,  chopped

Procedure:

1. Grind Roasted channa dal finely and then sieve to get the finest powder.

2. Grind sugar.

3. Fry the Roasted channa dal until raw smell is gone, in ghee.

4.  Mix well with sugar powder. 

5.  when warm, apply some ghee on hands and make laddoos.

The weird color in the photo is because I used milk while making laddoos, afraid of adding more ghee in the recipe.  They turned out super good and you could do the same too!
