Toad: What to do when Toad gives error for any query you execute

I use Toad for Data Analysts at work. At times, for any query you execute, this is the standard answer from toad:

System.NullReferenceException
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Stack Trace:
at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.PostChanges()
at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.DoExecuteSqlStatement()
at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.ExecuteSqlStatement()

In layman terms, what this means is it does not have a place to output your sql execution. Do the below:

Right click on the window area.

Select “Show Script Results”

Re-execute and see the results.

Have a good day and keep rocking!!

  1. Thank you for posting this! I have had this happen twice. Of course, when it happened the second time, I couldn’t remember the solution because it was so many months earlier.

    This answer is SO much better than the first page of results found by Google, posted by TDA support staff instructing people to rename XML files and such…
